Spring/Summer 2021

So maybe quarterly is almost too frequent for my life, but I try my best! This is very late and the first time it posted it had no photos *facepalm* but, I’m finally getting to it now so kudos to me. This spring, I took a hiatus from social media! The separation from digital life helped me focus more internally. I had to think hard about what I wanted, and I can see more doorways now than I did with the tunnel vision I had before. Most people say you should focus only on the present, but who does that? I’ve found it’s more about finding a balance: reflect on the past, focus on the present, and look to the future. So, I’ve set goals, not plans for the future; I’ve taken to making focus lists to remain present and did some counseling to help me reflect on my past, something I think is beneficial for anyone out there. With that, I’m ecstatic that it’s officially my Junior year at SCAD! I can anticipate a tough year ahead of me as this quarter is almost done but, also one filled with tons of new art and techniques to learn.

Since my last journal entry, I have a few beautiful photo galleries and oil paintings for you to explore! I took a lot of photos this past spring and summer, as you can see I’m more of a landscape gal. I really liked getting to know photography again as it comes into play in all my work. I use photos I personally take as references for my paintings so, having one with just the right amount of exposure and contrast makes a big difference. I also dabbled in some gouache this summer, check out my blog post about those here! I’m currently working with a lot of media styles at once! I’d love to note, if you have inquiries about an artwork you fancy adding to your art collection, contact me through the forum on my site!

All the books I’ve read this year!

On this journey of refocusing I rediscovered my love of literary art, fiction and non-fiction. On my journal, is a list of the books I’ve read so far this year. I hope to continue adding to it this year but, as Lemony Snicket would say, “It is likely I will die next to a pile of things I was meaning to read.”

I’ll be back in a few weeks with an update on what I made this fall. Stay tuned for more mess and beauty!
